Waffar Euro Saving Account

Banque du Caire supports financial inclusion through the launch of the Waffar Euro Savings Account, in line with the initiative of the Central Bank of Egypt.
Enjoy a seamless and convenient banking experience and receive your transfers in Euro with ease and security.

Features:

  • Interest rate of 0.25% applied from EUR 1 up to EUR 18,000 (maximum). Interest is calculated on the minimum monthly balance and credited monthly.
  • Free account opening with no minimum balance requirement.
  • Cash withdrawals and deposits are available at branches during official working hours.
  • Ability to receive remittance directly into the Waffar account.
  • Free quarterly account statements.
  • Free subscription to IVR service.
  • Access to Internet and Mobile Banking services.
  • Ability to issue a banking power of attorney starting from age 21.

 

Eligibility & Specifications:

  • Available for individual customers only.
  • Available for new and existing customers who do not already hold a Euro account with the bank.
  • Account opening is permitted from age 15 without a guardian, customers below 15 years require a guardian.
  • Account currency: Euro (EUR). 

Required Documents:

  • Valid National ID (from age 15).
  • For customers below 15 years:
    • Birth certificate of the minor.
    • Valid National ID of the guardian.

Balance & Transaction Limits

  • Maximum account balance: EGP 1,000,000 or its equivalent in Euro, including certificates, deposits, and remittance linked to the account in the same currency.
    • Certificates and deposits may be issued and linked to the account provided that the total customer balances do not exceed the permitted limits.
  • Monthly debit transaction limit: EGP 300,000 or its equivalent in Euro (Includes withdrawals, transfers, and currency exchange transactions)
  • Daily debit transaction limit: EGP 90,000 or its equivalent in Euro (Includes withdrawals, transfers, and currency exchange transactions)

Note: In case of any breach, the account will be suspended.

If daily/monthly transaction limits or the maximum balance (EGP 1 million) are exceeded:

  • The customer must visit the branch to update KYC (Know Your Customer) information.
  • All new account opening procedures must be completed, and the customer will be guided to select a more suitable product based on transaction volume and needs.
